The Northeast Georgia Homeless Veteran’s Shelter raised a flag on January 31, 2013 with the help of the JROTC Color Guard of Winder-Barrow High School. The Barrow Regional Medical Center Auxiliary donated the flag to the shelter. Norman Lloyd, chairman of the board at the shelter, invited board members, local leaders and Veterans to the ceremony which was held  in front of the shelter  on King Street, in Winder.

 Those present included: shelter board members, Norman Lloyd, Jamie Keyes, Randy Simonette, Richard Kohus, and Sharon Kohus; Winder Mayor David Maynard; Tommy Jennings, president of the Barrow Chamber of Commerce; Al Darby, principal, Winder-Barrow High School; Derek Hutchins, director of the Boys & Girls Club of Winder; Barrow Regional Medical Center Auxiliary President, Drucilla Gregg and member, Martha Abernathy; former Winder mayor and retired Veteran John Mobley;  VA  homeless Veteran specialist Barry Burns and Department of Labor Veterans Specialist Gladstone Everard. The JROTC Guard includes Corey Landers, Darren Parker, Jeffery Baker, Seth Giles and Stacy Guzman.

 Pastor Usia Lyons IV with the Temple of Glory Church opened the ceremony with a prayer. The Color Guard of the Winder-Barrow High School JROTC presented the colors while Anne Doriscar, a senior at W-BHS, sang the National Anthem. Please see our photo album for picturers of the event!
