Flag Raising Ceremony 1-31-13.pdf

The Northeast Georgia Homeless shelter is the only shelter for homeless Veterans in northeast Georgia. Our board of directors consists of Veterans and their family members. The shelter was formerly a general homeless shelter that had been providing services for 8 years. It's residents were men over the age of 18. In recognizing the need to serve the large homeless Veterans population in our area, we have transformed our shelter into a sanctuary primarily for Veterans. We are currently working with the Veterans Administration Homeless Coordinator in our area to provide services to our veterans, and there is also a CCS on board.

Our long term goal is to transform one of our other buildings into a shelter for women Veterans. Given the funding and support, we can make this a reality.

*It has recently been brought to our attention that the word exclusively was used in the above paragraph. This web page was a much needed and greatly appreciated donation. The word exclusively was missed. Exclusively has been changed to primarily. Our shelter is structured in accordance with the VAhomeless veteran per diem program, which allows up to 10 of our available beds to be used by non veterans.

Please note the Barrow Journal flag raising ceremony article held on  1-31-13 above.
